In his 28 years experience as an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. R.A. Agrawal has served as an emergency medical officer, B.D. Hospital, Nainital from 1977 to 1979 and  as an orthopaedic surgeon under U.P. medical services from 1979 to 1986.

Later on he resigned from the Government job and started his private practice as an orthopaedic surgeon in the year 1986 and established his own 60 bedded hospital under the name "Agrawal Orthopaedics Hospital" at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, India.

For some time he worked in City Hospital, Karlaruhe, Germany in the year 1988. Today he is also a member of  'Association of  Osteosynthesis' (A.O), Switzerland.

He has been elected as the Chief Editor of "The Journal of Foot Surgery (India)". He has submitted more than 35 scientific papers at different conferences and seminars held in and out side India and has also been the fixator of various National level conferences and seminars.

Dr. Agrawal has been organizing free medical checkups and cases of surgical camps in various cities in India and abroad. He has been operating poor and downtrodden handicapped patients free of cost. Patients of Polio and other crippling  dieases have been operated upon by new technique (Ilazarov) as a result, most of them have started walking without caliper or other support. He is one of the surgeons who worked in Life Line Express sponsored by Impact India Foundation in Gorakhpur, Bhagalpur and Hazipur.

He has worked as a Co-supervisor in the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi and presented project on Carbon Composite Rings at National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi. He has also developed Carbon Composite Rings to treat Polio handicapped patients.

Dr. Ram Avtar Agrawal, son of
late. Shri Chhaju Ram Agrawal has a long experience of 28 years as an orthopaedic surgeon. He did his M.S. (Orthopaedics)
from G.S.V. Medical College, Kanpur, in the year 1977.

He also under went special training
of "Ilizarov Technique" from
Altai Regional Orthopaedic Centre,
Burnal, Russia in the year 1994.


For his outstanding performance in the field of welfare of disabled people, he was conferred National Award of Govt. of India on December 3, 2000
